“He is afraid. He is totally alone. He is 3 million light years from home.”
Considered by many to be Steven Spielberg’s most successful and symbolic fantasy, this 1982 film was nominated for 9 Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Best Director.Â
As Elliot (Henry Thomas) lures E.T. into his house and up to his room, it becomes apparent that the two have become some how connected. E.T. is hungry so Elliot also feels hunger and goes to get E.T. food. Elliot also feels fear when E.T. is fearful, and when E.T. becomes tired Elliot also becomes tired and falls asleep. Toward the end of the movie when E.T. becomes very sick, he disconnects himself so as not to harm Elliot.Â
