A customer at the Burien Schucks Auto Supply was attacked by a man with an ax late Monday afternoon.

According to BTB Publisher Scott Schaefer’s wife (who took the photo above whilst nearby), there were seven police cars and a news helicopter (most likely KOMO News) at the scene, investigating a man who apparently walked inside the store and struck a customer in the belly with an ax.

Schucks Auto Supply is located at 15500 First Avenue South (map below).

According to KOMO News, employees “got the ax away from the attacker and began hitting him before deputies arrived.”

UPDATE 2/9 11pm:

  • Apparently the suspect may have mental health issues.
  • The man allegedly first tried to chop a chain attached to a generator.
  • Story goes that a customer jumped in and helped the clerk subdue the suspect. The customer was grazed across the belly with the ax, but was not severely injured.
  • Both the suspect and victim were transported to Highline Medical Center; neither had serious injuries.
