B-TOWN BIZ: Mexican Restaurant El Pique May Be Re-Opening April 1
According to a Craigslist Ad and our own observations, it appears that El Pique, a one-time Mexican Restaurant turned Mexican/Salvadorean Restaurant and Night Club, will be re-opening on Thursday, April 1st.
This place has one of our favorite signs in Burien, as we posted about in Oct. of 2008.
“El Pique” translates to “The Sting,” and we’re not talking about the movie. We assume the “sting” at this place has to do with certain peppers, hence the signage. In some cases it also translates to “The Resentment” but we hope that’s not the case with customers who eat here.
El Pique is located at 14445 Ambaum Blvd. SW, in the building formerly occupied by Taqueria El Fogon and, at one time, Caddyshack II (anyone remember that joint?).
We’ve actually seen it open as a bar on a recent night, and according to the Washington State Liquor Control Board, their license was approved Feb. 25th.
Here’s the text from the Ad:

With the best pupusas
Pupusas are similar to corn tortillas, only a bit thicker and stuffed with cheeses, beans or meat. From our initial research, Pupusas originated in El Salvador.
