Public Invited To Comment On New Fire Station Headquaters Tuesday

Future neighbors of a new headquarters fire station in Burien are invited to voice their their ideas, concerns and other comments at a meeting of the King County Fire District No. 2 commission at 5 p.m. Tuesday (May 4).

The meeting will be at the current headquarters station, located at 15100 8th Ave. SW.

Burien/Normandy Park Fire Chief Mike Marrs said, “We consider this a valuable opportunity to hear from our neighbors, resulting in a station design that exhibits both compatibility and a source of pride to the neighborhood.

Construction is expected to begin on the new facility later this year. It will be located at 900 SW 146th St., where a funeral chapel was located for many years.

Will they be posting their designs on any websites as they progress through the design development stages?

I certainly hope so. The new location may be a lot more visible than the current one. I hope the design is low-key and not flashy or commercial looking.
