We received both an email and forum posting this morning about “Sophie,” a lost black border collie mix dog, missing from around the Seahurst neighborhood near SW 146th and 22nd SW.

Here’s a pic of the dog, followed by the posting:

We have lost our new black border collie mix dog.

Her name is Sophie and she looks like a black fox.

She is very frightened and will probably run if approached.

She was last seen in the Seahurst neighborhood near 146th and 22nd SW.

Please call us if you see her (206-948-3516) She is about 20 pounds and has one cropped ear. She has a green collar, tags, and is trailing a leash.

Thank you for your help!

  1. Jim Branson says:

Kelsy tracked Sophie down into Seahurst Park today, but the trail ended in the tidal zone, where, if Sophie walked there at the previous low tide, the scent trail would have been washed away by the high tide. (Kelsy is a search dog for the Missing Pet Partnership, who found Charlie the black lab a while back.) Sophie could be anywhere from Shorewood to Three Tree Point. She is about two years old, and she lived on the streets of Taiwan before being rescued, so she should be street savvy. She likes to hide under things, so if your dog is barking at something under your deck, you might peek under there and see if it’s Sophie. If you see her, don’t try to chase her. Just call Joel and Cindy.

She was trailing a leash, but most likely she has chewed it off by now, so you would just see the remnant of the leash hanging from her collar.

Many thanks to Jim and his wonderful search dog Kelsey for stepping up to help us look for Sophie – spending many hours and hiking through the neighborhood and all through the woods tracking her. We are still looking for Sophie and hopeful that she will show up.
