Burien’s annual Strawberry Festival may have gone “wild,” but that won’t stop Whitewater Aquatics’ annual Strawberry Fest 5K Run, which is set for Sunday morning, June 20th.

In addition to the regular 5k, this year there will also be a special “Daddy & Me” fun run in celebration of Father’s Day.

The entry fee is $25 per participant, if you register prior to June 6th, then $30 and $15 for the 1K Family Run, again until June 6th, then $20 afterward. School Running Clubs and track teams will be charged a special club rate of $15 when a minimum of 10 runners sign up. The “Dad and Me” runners will be charged $25 for the two.  Contact [email protected] for more information.  For those adults who plan to start at the 5k start line, and meet your party at the 1k start line and finish together, you’ll need to register for the 5k. We will do our best to be sure you have a t-shirt on race day, but if you register after June 6th, you may need to wait a couple of weeks after the event to pick up your t-shirt.

  • 7:30 a.m.: Registration begins at the start line
  • 9:00 a.m.: 5K Run begins
  • 9:45 a.m.: 1K Run begins
  • 10:15 a.m.: Awards Ceremony at the finish line

The 5K race starts and finishes at the Burien Interim Art Space Park located at S.W. 150th & 4th Avenue S.W.  The race heads through east Burien and the neighborhoods surrounding Lake Burien. The course will be clearly marked by cones, and volunteers will be available at most intersections.

All proceeds benefit the Ruth Dykeman Children’s Center, as well as scholarships for WhiteWater Aquatics participants. Both are 501 (c) (3) organizations.

We’re back with our moderate run around Lake Burien, suitable for the serious or first-time runner.  We’re also repeating our popular Family 1K Run for those that want a good run without breaking much of a sweat.

And, thanks to our generous sponsor Collins Chiropractic, we once again offer track teams, running clubs and kids K-12 a reduced rate of $15. The team with the best overall time will receive a $125 Pizza party from local favorite, Bison Creek, along with those crucial year-end bragging rights!

Since Sunday, June 20th is Father’s Day, we’re holding a special “Daddy & Me” run – bring one of your kids along for our special rate of 2 for $25. Prizes for this category include gift certificates for breakfast at West Seattle’s Chelan Café.

Proceeds benefit Burien’s Ruth Dykeman Children’s Center and scholarships for WhiteWater Aquatics participants.  We appreciate your continued support and hope to cream you on the course.

For information and a course map, please click on the “Burien 5K Run” tab at our website www.whitewateraquatics.com.  You can register there, or at www.getmeregistered.com.   Stop by our booth at the Wild Strawberry Festival on Saturday the 19th to register, enter a raffle for 5 passes for public swims at the newly-re-opened Evergreen Pool, or mull over your favorite cure for shin splints.

We’ll be glad to see you!
