B-TOWN BIZ: B-Town Burgers Suffers Break-In, Burglary

Olde Burien business B-Town Burgers was broken into recently, suffering a shattered front glass door and a lost cash register.

The break-in was discovered Thursday morning (July 15), and was brought to our attention when they updated their Facebook page status with:

“Vandalized, but will be open for business… Thanks for the show of support and calls.”

A later Facebook update stated:

“Someone broke the front door and just went crazy inside the place.”

Our understanding is that this is just the most recent in a string of break-ins along SW 152nd Street. We’re currently awaiting callbacks from local police to get additional details, and will update our Readers as soon as we get a response.

In the meantime, it’s business as usual at the new burger joint, located at 822 SW 152nd Street, and proving to be popular amongst B-Towners.

Burien City Councilmember Jack Block, Jr. had this to say about the perceived increase in local crime:

“Presently we have a reactive police force. We need to go to active policing and to do that we need to examine our tax structure and ask residents if they’re willing to pay more for a safer city.”

Here are some photos of the scene as shot by Michael Brunk:

The exact same thing happened last night to the Swinery in West Seattle. Hopefully there will be a concerted effort by local police to be proactive instead of reactive.

Can you believe that typical politician’s response!!??…..If you want to prevent this sort of event, you’re going to have to pay more taxes. That’s their answer to everything…..more taxes! This is ridiculous….I’ll be voting for a new mindset this coming November!

Hope that this business and others put in security cameras. There are systems that are fairly cheap these days. The public could then help identify these punks for capture and prosecution. Too bad we can’t catch ’em in the act and beat the hell out of ’em!

Too bad none of the council members are up for re-election until 2011. Jack Block is with us until 2013!!!

Are you the same “coverofnight” who elsewhere posted “Did Stephen call the police to report the lawbreakers? If I had that type of neighbor who talks that way around his kids, I would have called the cops in a heartbeat!”?

Calling the cops on someone using bad language??? No wonder our law enforcement costs are high with people like you. And yet you seem to think that every business and individual setting up an $800 video surveillance system is the sure-fire way of reducing crime rather than thru proactive means. Yeesh.

The City needs to EXAMINE how they are allocating and spending our current tax dollars, not our tax structure. The obnoxiously blinding Burein Community Center sign is an expense I could have certainly done without, and that goes for the remodeling of the former Burien Library as well.

I think if the burgers are that good at the b-town burger joint that folks are willing to break the door down to get,, well, I guess I best grab the war maid and try them tonight.

That would actually be a funny, tongue in cheek motto for this Burger spot: “People break down our doors to get to our great food!” Haha!
