Burien Little Theatre’s 2010-11 Season Will Make You “Laugh ‘Til It Hurts”

Burien Little Theatre on Thursday (Sept.2nd) announced its 30th Season lineup, which they promise will make you “Laugh ’til it hurts…cry…think” at the Annex to Burien’s (old) Community Center, located at SW 146th St. & 4th Ave. SW.

The offerings for this season will include:

  • Reefer Madness: The Musical – Sept. 24th – Oct. 31, 2010
  • Zombie – new late night show, Oct. 15, 16, 22, 23, 29, 30, 2010
  • Martha, Josie and the Chinese Elvis – Nov. 26 – Dec. 19, 2010
  • An Untraditional Holiday Comedy written by Charlotte Jones – Nov. 26-Dec. 19, 2010
  • Clean House, A Comedy written by Sarah Ruhl – Feb. 11-Mar. 6, 2011
  • Bill & Peggy Hunt Playwright’s Festival – April 8 – May 1, 2010

REEFER MADNESS: THE MUSICAL – A CAMPY MUSICAL COMEDY written by Kevin Murphy and Dan Studney
September 24-October 31, 2010

Inspired by the 1936 cult-film classic “Reefer Madness,” this campy musical comedy cautions of the dangers of dope. The tale follows our hero as he transforms from star student into murdering drug fiend. A live rock and roll band and addictive songs keep you humming for days.

Written by Bill Connington & adapted from the novella by JOYCE CAROL OATES

If the West Coast premiere of this dramatic one-act doesn’t scare you, you’re already dead. A psychopath kidnaps children and tries unsuccessfully to turn them into zombies with an ice pick. Age 16 and up.


An UNTRADITIONAL HOLIDAY COMEDY written by Charlotte Jones
November 26-December 19, 2010
Sure to become a holiday comedy classic, this West Coast premiere features a 40-year-old dominatrix about to hang up her whips for good at the holidays. Add her obsessive-compulsive maid, the arrival of a “dead” daughter, and help from a singing Chinese Elvis, and this quirky British world comes together with heartwarming humanity. Directed by nationally known director John Vreeke.

CLEAN HOUSE – A COMEDY written by Sarah Ruhl
February 11-March 6, 2011
In this clever offbeat comedy, a doctor hires a maid who hates to clean and is in search of the perfect joke. To cover for the maid, the doctor’s sister secretly takes over the housecleaning–and finds “foreign” underwear in the laundry. As the doctor’s marriage unravels, true love emerges and the perfect joke is found.

April 8 – May 1, 2010

Brand-new works. Expect the unexpected and the very best from Washington State playwrights’ imaginations. All world premieres.

  1. Replenish your soul! Go see one of the great performances at Burien Little Theatre.

    There are few things that can inspire one’s imagination as live theater. Burien Little Theatre has put together a tremendous line-up this season.

    Make a night of it – meet for cocktails or wine (or a nice non-alcoholic beverage) with an appetizer, see a great show at Burien Little Theatre, then dinner, wine, and coffee and dessert to round it out.

    Sounds like Burien is the place for you.
