UPDATE: Missing Des Moines Man Found In Auburn

UPDATE: We just received word from Des Moines Police Master Sergeant Bob Collins that Lloyd Russell, the 73-year old man reported missing on Monday, was located in Auburn Tuesday morning (Sept. 7th) around 7am by the Auburn Police Department.

Mr. Russell was returned to his home by a Des Moines Patrol Officer.

The Des Moines Police Department announced Monday (Sept. 6th) that it is requesting the public’s help in finding a 73-year old man who is suffering from dementia and paranoid-schizophrenia.

Lloyd Russell has been missing since 3:15pm Monday afternoon (Sept. 6th), from an adult family home located near 16th Ave. South and S. 240th in Des Moines, where he’s been staying since April of this year.

He was last seen in the backyard having a cigarette.

Mr. Russell is a white male, 73-years old, with gray hair. He is described as having a large build and his identification card shows he stands 6’1″ tall and weighs 230 pounds. Mr. Russell was last known to be wearing a black coat, blue jeans, and black shoes. He normally uses a walker, but can slowly get around without one.

Police say that Mr. Russell can become “ornery” and has made statements in the past that he was going to pack his bags and move out. He resided in Tacoma before moving to Des Moines. Mr. Russell takes medications for his mental health, and is known to have personal checks in his possession.

Mr. Russell’s name has been entered into the state’s computer information center.

The Des Moines Police Department is asking members of the public to call 911 if they have information as to his whereabouts.

Lloyd Russell was last seen Monday, Sept. 6th at an adult family home in Des Moines. If you see him, please call 911 immediately.
