This Saturday (Oct. 9th), Sea Mar Community Health Centers will hold its second annual Binational Health Fair at the Burien City Hall and Public Library, located at 400 SW 152nd Street.

This free Binational Health Fair is a national mobilization of city, public and private organizations to address the health and well-being of Latinos living in the United States and Canada.

The fair will feature a variety of health screenings including tests for diabetes, cholesterol, vision, blood pressure, weight analysis, HIV, and asthma. After the screenings, patients will have the opportunity to speak with a physician about their results. There will also be free mammograms for women 40-64.

El Tianguis Latino Market will be open for the duration of the health fair. Throughout the health fair, there will be raffles with prizes from local restaurants and businesses. Children’s activities at the fair include professional storytellers, arts and crafts, raffle prizes, bike helmet fittings, fire engine tours, and much more.

Several community members representing various organizations and resources will be on hand providing information on a variety of topics, from mental health to child care. Informational presentations at the fair will include advice from Sea Mar medical providers, an address by the consul of Mexico, and information about how to promote a healthy lifestyle for you and your family.

All activities and health screenings at the fair are completely free! For any questions, please call the Sea Mar Burien clinic at (206) 812-6140. To schedule a free mammogram, please call Daisy Sylvan at (206) 764-0524.
