The City of Burien, along with Sound Transit, King County, Alliance Property Group, Wasatch Advantage Group and Pankow Builders (whew…lots of folks involved here…) will all be breaking out their shiniest new shovels to celebrate the groundbreaking of the new Transit Center Park and Ride expansion on Saturday, Oct. 23rd at 10am.

Since this groundbreaking is for a parking lot, actual parking for the event will be available at the current temporary park and ride lot at the old BBC Dodge lot, some three blocks away at First Ave South and South 148th Streets (read more about that here).

There is also accessible parking at the new City Hall/Library lot at SW 151st and 4th Ave SW.

The following public transit routes can also be used to access the event:

  • 120
  • 121

It’s ridiculous that the ad says the 123 can be used to access the event. That’s a weekday only express bus for commuters. Yes, it serves the Transit Center, but not on Saturdays. Someone needed to do better research.

I would like to know why we need this “expansion” when the current lot is safe, convenient and never full. The temporary lot requires you to park much farther away from the bus, only has one way in and out and when you do finally get out you can only go north. Why was this not all done prior to the building of the new transit center? Very poor planning.

    Patti,

Prior to the economic meltdown the current lot was often full and it was larger than the current one.
