Burien Woman Charged With Hate Crime Against Muslims Pleads ‘Not Guilty’

KING5 is reporting that a Burien woman charged with a hate crime after allegedly attacking two Muslim women at a Tukwila gas station has pleaded not guilty.

As we reported Oct. 21st, Jennifer Leigh Jennings, 37, of Burien, has been charged with two counts of “malicious harassment” for verbally and physically attacking the two women at a Tukwila gas station on Saturday, Oct. 16th.

Jennings is accused of calling two Somali women “suicide bombers,” and slamming a car door on one of them.

The women were buying gas at at Arco station at 154th and International Boulevard when Jennings walked up to them and started calling them names.

“She was saying you’re a suicide bomber and you don’t know how to pump gas. You need to go back to your own country!” one of the women said.

According to the woman, Jennings then walked over to the driver’s side and slammed the door on her aunt’s foot as she was trying to get out of the car. Jennings allegedly then pulled off part of her aunt’s head scarf.
