Early auditions for the Polar Bear Club? Nope, just a couple of volunteers from Foster High School taking advantage of the Puget Sound.

Photographer Michael Brunk was at Seahurst Park this evening shooting fall color photos when he ran into a group from Foster High School.

Eighteen students from the school, in association with the YMCA Earth Service Corps, spent several hours on November 3 helping to clean up around the park under the leadership of Jessica Suddaby and John Schneider from AmeriCorps.

After working up a good sweat, several students decided to hop into the water to cool off. From their reaction, it didn’t take very long.

  1. This is a wonderful group of students that participate in YMCA’s Earth Service Corps club through Community Schools Collaboration’s after school program at Foster. They are very dedicated to environmental issues and come to club meetings every Wednesday after school! Way to go Jessica and Jon!

  2. That anyone can work up a sweat on a brisk November day is a testatment to how hard they were working! We appreciate these great volunteers and on behalf of Seahurt Park, we want to thank them for their efforts in making a difference to the community.
