Our friends at the Exchange Club of Highline alerted us that they recently honored John and Ruth Foster for their longtime community service to help the homeless with clothing and a meal.

Here’s the full info from an email:

The Exchange Club of Highline, while doing its own good deeds, keeps an eye out for people in the community who are also working hard to help others.  The Club honors their work by presenting them with the Book of Golden Deeds Award.  This award was presented to John and Ruth Foster for their longtime community service to help the homeless with clothing and a meal.  They run the Clothes Closet where homeless people can come to get clothing and a meal.  John and Ruth have been doing this work for many, many years and have helped countless people.

The Clothes Closet is now at the old Burien Community Center on SW 146th and 4th Ave. SW.  They serve 45 – 50 people each week.  Donations are accepted on Wednesdays from 10 am – 3 pm, Fridays from 9 am – Noon, Sundays from 1 pm – 6 pm.  They need all sizes of clothing, and especially coats, socks and blankets. Cash donations are also accepted.

Our community is fortunate to have such dedicated, hard-working people doing all they can to help others.
