This past Wednesday, Dec. 1st a tradition that has illuminated the Burien skyline for well over 25 years continued as residents gathered at BTB Advertiser Economy Wiring / YB Tubless for the annual Tree Lighting Festival.

As the crowd enjoyed music provided by the St. Francis School Choir, Santa pulled up in a Burien/Normandy Park fire engine.

After handing out candy to kids young and old, Santa led a count down and the fir tree was officially lit, continuing a local tradition.

Photographers Michael Brunk and Nicholas Johnson were at the event and assembled this slideshow set to music from the choir.

I know there are some who think this tree lighting is a joke. But I have to admit, this year as in years past, there is something so cool about having a tree large enough you see it from far away. It’s kind of like a sign of home.
Thank You Y.B. Tubless, and Economy Wiring for this unique christmas present we receive every year.
