Our friends at Burien Little Theatre want our Readers to know that, in addition to the continuing run of “Martha, Josie and the Chinese Elvis” (read our Review here) they will be staging a FREE Reading of the holiday classic “A Christmas Story” this Saturday, Dec. 11th, at 2pm.

This production, which will be presented at BLT’s theater, located at 4th Ave SW at SW 146th, is directed by Rochelle Flynn, who sent out the following email reminder:

Hello All-

Yes I know it’s last minute but my life has been pretty tumultuous lately to say the least so……

I’m enclosing this promo for the show I’m directing for Burien Little Theatre.

Coming this holiday season:

“A Christmas Story.” Yes, you could rent the favorite holiday film, or you could go see the new musical version at the Fifth Avenue Theatre for a whole lot of money. But I hope you might prefer to see a FREE production with LIVE actors doing a staged reading/radio play version based on the  1983 comedy classic film. You will see actors at vintage microphones (fake ones built by my husband but nice looking!) and watch how sound effects are produced for live radio shows (I do the sound effects also). “A Christmas Story” is based on the film, which has become a much-loved seasonal comedy classic about a leg lamp and an official Red Ryder BB gun. We are doing a FREE performance this Saturday, Dec 11, at 2 pm. Come get into the holiday spirit with us at Burien Little Theatre, 4th Avenue Southwest at Southwest 146th.

Did I mention it is FREE?! No reservations needed! Just come on over to the theatre. It is family entertainment suitable for all ages.

Hope to see you there!

Love & Happy Holidays!

And don’t forget you can help out those in need during the Holiday season by bringing in non-perishable food items to BLT’s Food Drive, which continues at all performances this weekend:

“You can help Transform Burien help others in these tough economic times by bringing nonperishable items for the nonprofit organization’s food bank to ANY performance, including the free readings and performances at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 11th.”
