WEATHER: Flakes Fall In Burien; ‘Winter Storm Warning’ In Effect Until Thursday

Around 12:30pm Wednesday (Feb. 23rd) a small snow squall passed through the Burien area, with large flakes falling (and sticking) for 15 or so minutes. Then, just as soon as it appeared, it disappeared.

As of 1:30pm though, one can see blue skies mixed with large puffy clouds, but no serious snow has hit.

Yet.

However, the National Weather Service’s latestWinter Storm Warning remains in effect until 10am Thursday (Feb. 24).

According to the latest warning, “1 or 2 inches of slushy snow accumulation are expected today in showers. Heavier snow will come tonight… when up to an additional 6 inches of accumulation are possible.”

… Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 10 am PST Thursday for the the Seattle-Tacoma Metro area…

A Winter Storm Warning for the Seattle-Tacoma Metro areas…including the Kitsap peninsula and Hood Canal areas… remains in effect until 10 am PST Thursday.

* Some affected locations… Seattle… Bremerton… Tacoma… Puyallup… and Shelton.

* Accumulations… 1 or 2 inches of slushy snow accumulation are expected today in showers. Heavier snow will come tonight… when up to an additional 6 inches of accumulation are possible.

Precautionary/preparedness actions…

A winter storm warnings means severe winter weather is occurring or imminent. Those planning travel in the warned area should be prepared for hazardous… winter driving conditions and plan accordingly.

Also, here’s the forecast for the rest of the week:

Today: Occasional rain and snow showers. Snow level 300 feet. High near 38. Southwest wind between 5 and 8 mph becoming calm. Chance of precipitation is 90%. Total daytime snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possible.

Tonight: Snow. Low around 32. North wind between 7 and 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possible.

Thursday: Snow showers, mainly before 4pm. Temperature rising to near 33 by 9am, then falling to around 29 during the remainder of the day. North wind between 6 and 14 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Thursday Night: A 30 percent chance of snow showers before 10pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 22. North northeast wind around 17 mph. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Friday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 32. North northeast wind between 7 and 11 mph.

Friday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 23.

Saturday: Partly sunny, with a high near 38.

Saturday Night: A chance of rain. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 31.

Sunday: A chance of rain. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 41.

Sunday Night: Rain likely. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 35.
