Normandy Park Mayor George Hadley (pictured above at last year’s Cove to Clover event) submitted a letter of resignation from the NP City Council, citing his January diagnosis of Glioblastoma Multiforme, the most common and aggressive type of brain cancer.

Hadley’s resignation is effective Tuesday, March 8, 2011.

Hadley has served as a member of the Normandy Park City Council since 2004. In January 2010, the Normandy Park City Council elected Hadley to serve as Mayor for 2010-2011. Prior to being elected to the City Council, Hadley served on the Normandy Park Board of Adjustment. Hadley served as Mayor Pro Tem from January 2006 – December 2009.

George’s position will be filled by the City Council until a new Councilmember is elected during the November 2011 General Election. City Councilmembers are volunteers and must attend several evening meetings each month. For more information about the position or duties of the City Council, contact the City Manager’s Office at (206) 248?8256. Applications are available at Normandy Park City Hall or online at: www.normandyparkwa.gov.

Everyone here at our various local blogs sends our best wishes for a speedy recovery to George, who has been very helpful to us.
