Let the countdown begin for our friends Daniel and Melinda Keane and their new Serenza Salon & Spa. It’s 20 days from today when the new salon opens and from what we’re told by Daniel it’s “mind boggling how cool it is.”

The birth of Serenza is a life long dream of this dynamic duo. “You can’t imagine how exciting it is to bring a really world class salon and spa to our hometown,” Daniel added.

Daniel & Melinda have owned a salon for 28 years, 21 in Burien and 13 in their current 5 Corners location. He thinks that there’s a misconception that his Serenza Salon and Spa (Formerly Market Place Salon) is pricey because of the quality of services. But their guests have enjoyed quality service for cuts and styles starting at $40 for women and $35 for men, massage as low as $40, skin care starting at $40 and manicures starting at $24 and pedicures as low as $30. All this in a pleasing and comforting environment right here in Burien.

This journey to the opening of this new Salon started over three years ago. Finding the perfect location was top priority. After a bumpy start they selected an “awesome space” on the corner of 1st and 160th. With the help of Helix Design Group to work with the existing architecture and Raging River Custom Builders to do the interiors. “Owner Mike Halverson is a life long family friend. His background and eye has been a key to the interior design. He has made some brilliant suggestions,” Daniel said.

And while Daniel is extolling compliments on the team that created the new Serenza Salon, Daniel and Melinda wanted to thank Elizabeth Stevens of the Northwest Business Development Association in Renton (NWBDA) who connected them with the Small Business Association (SBA) who handled the financing.

While the excitement is building with the current Serenza team and their guests, we asked Daniel what to expect. “There’s an energy inside the space to make our guests feel invited… a magnetic pull. We’ll be increasing the team to include an additional nail specialist and a stylist. Plus we’ll have a “wet room” for our Spa Body Treatments.” Some of the equipment (and much new) and all of the products will be moving to the new location along with many new surprises!

Why Serenza? Where does that name come from? “We were playing fast and loose with an Italian word for serenity. Well, actually, Daniel, the Italian word for serenity is “Serenita’!” But there is a small town in Italy that we found called Figino Serenza! So now there’s two Serenza’s in the world. One in northern Italy and now one in Burien! “Serenza is meant to invoke serenity or to be free of stress or emotion.”

Let the countdown begin!
Watch the countdown on the B-Town Blog. Serenza has a countdown ad rotating in the top banner and we’ll be running updates along the way as well.

EDITOR’S NOTE: By way of disclosure, our Sales Diva, Janet Grella has been a client of Serenza for over 15 years. She tells us that she is made to feel like family and that she always feels like she’s walking into Cheers where ‘everyone always knows her name.’
