As we were out and about cruising around B-Town on our bikes for the Tour de Friends Fundraiser for Para Los Niños (we were Sponsors) Friday night, we couldn’t help but notice construction workers busily swarming all over Ambaum Blvd. SW near SW 152nd, paving the road into some smooth flat deliciousness for your driving pleasure this weekend.

“Paving has been completed on Ambaum to about S.W. 151st St.,” reads the city’s website. “The contractor hopes to complete paving to 4th Ave. S.W. the evening of June 17. Painting of lines marking lanes will be done early next week.”

The city says that all work on Ambaum “is expected to be completed by the July 4th weekend.”

We say Woot!

Well some idiot chose to mark SW 155th St and 3rd as the ‘detour’ and every time a Metro bus comes down the little hill and around the corner onto 3rd they nearly take out 3 cars at the stop sign. All the cars and trucks come flying down street at such high speeds they barely make the turn when they notice the detour sign. It’s dangerous and if just one Burien police officer would park his car on the block (he doesn’t even need to be in it) then the idiots would slow down but apparently thats asking too much of them.

I live on one of the corners on Ambaum there, and I am not exactly rested this morning. This is work that you do during the day. There is no reason to keep residents up all night to take care of this. The City of Burien needs to pull it’s head out of it’s *expletive deleted* when it comes to city planning. I am NOT happy.

It was interesting bicycling on Ambaum but we made it to the Tour de Friends Friends stop #16 Dairy Queen for FREE Small Cones. Thanks DQ! Yummy! The manager was very nice and the recent remodeling is beautiful. Then we rode back on Anbaum to Tour de Friends stop #15 Mark Restaurant and Bar(our favorite) for Hummus with veggies and NA beer to rehydrate. Even with the road construction in progress we managed to patronize 7 of the 16 Tour de Friend’s featured B-Town businesses.
