Last week The B-Town Blog sat down with some of the members of the new ‘B-Town Brokers’ group as they analyzed their first Discover Burien Living event, which was held June 16th.

The meeting was held at Elliott Bay Brewery, where the group counted contest entry cards and discussed the pros and cons of the event.

It became apparent among the group that “this was a really successful first time event,” as Susan Plecko, Founder, exclaimed.

The mission of the B-Town Brokers was to attract outside Realtors into Burien with a major open house event. There was literally hundreds of agents, service providers and residents that visited the 35 broker’s open houses in Shorewood, Three Tree Point, Seahurst, Lake Burien, Gregory Heights as well as some of Burien’s parks and the new community center. There were brokers from as far away as Mercer Island and Federal Way, with many from neighboring West Seattle – so mission accomplished, B-Town Brokers! Each home had an average of 20-21 visitors in the 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. touring time.

“Look at what we can do when we all worked together,” said PNW’s Lori Alden.

After the tour, many participants converged on the Burien Thursday Market at Town Square for prize drawings. Keeping the local theme, gift cards were purchased from a variety of Burien businesses and were handed out by B-Town Publisher/Editor Scott Schaefer. There was literally over $1,000 in cash and prizes! Participating restaurants and merchants included:

  • B & E Meats
  • Han’s Deli
  • Bistro Baffi
  • Mick Kelley
  • Angelos
  • 909
  • Tin Room
  • Elliott Bay Brewhouse
  • The Mark Restaurant
  • Poggi Bonsi
  • SideStreet Kitchen
  • Burien Press
  • Herr Backyard Garden
  • Osteria da Primo
  • Grand Central Bakery
  • B-Town Burgers
  • Vince’s
  • Hey Paison
  • Trader Joe’s

Also, accolades from the group for the 35 realtors that held the opens and purchased their food locally as well. Susan Plecko noted that she bought food from Sals for her “open” and wine from Vino Bello as a prize.

The B-Town Brokers currently consist of seven agents from four Burien-located companies:

  • John L. Scott: Susan Plecko is joined by colleague Karen Williams
  • Lori Alden and Kristy Jacobs from Prudential Northwest (BTB Real Estate partner)
  • Susan Fromm and Leslie Newman from ReMax
  • Windermere’s Mary Kay Horton

What’s next for the B-Town Brokers? Looks like they’ll be holding another Burien Open House in September and inviting even more folks to attend.

Stay tuned to The B-Town Blog for updates on how you can participate and win local prizes!
