We’re celebrating Independence Day today with our friends and families, but we wanted to share a video from 2010 that Mark Neuman Shot and Produced, and Scott Schaefer edited, featuring local residents reciting the Declaration of Independence, which was signed 235 years ago today:

(…at the end of the video, be sure to look for some amusing outtakes as well as terrific “Happy Birthday USA!” salutations)

Wonderful parade, fire trucks, police cars, marching bands, Seafair Clowns, folks running for office, marching groups, old cars, many wonderful entries, but one thing missing, WHERE ERE ALL THE ELECTED BURIEN CITY OFFICIALS???? I saw a Tukwila City Councilwomen, but I did not see a single person from our sitting council, Mayor , deputy mayor, Gordon Shaw, Lucy, and the rest?????? People come for this 90th parade and no one from the coucilk cares enought to even show up or make an appearance? Usually Rose Clark is on the announcement booth , I did the Normandy Park Parade in the Morning and saw several council folks and the City Manager along the Route, really was a surprise not to see the elected’s from the City of Burien guess they just don’t care about the people they represent except in major election years, Several are up for reelection this year and didn’t care enough to even make a showing, do they think they are just getting re-elected with out trying??? The people of Burien are not Stupid and I would think this is a good showing of who not to vote for , because they (Sitting Council) must not care about the public. If they conduct business this way and don’t care about the public , then is this how they govern, just saying!!!!!

I thought I was the only one who didnt notice any council-members there. A 90 year milestone parade for our city. And they were MIA. Or am I wrong here?
