Our friends at the City of Burien want our Readers to know that they’re in need of volunteers to staff the Tea House at this year’s Arts-A-Glow event (we’re Sponsors), which will be held Saturday, Sept. 10th at Dottie Harper Park.
This is an excellent, annual interactive arts event, and we’re excited that it’s been moved to one of Burien’s best (and most interesting/magical) parks.
Here’s more about Arts-A-Glow from the city’s website :
A magical evening in the forest! We will have lantern art and performers around every corner, face painting, tea leaf reading, and tea and treats to be sampled. Make your own lantern and join the procession at dusk (8ish)!
And a special surprise performance after the procession…don’t miss it!
Community Procession at Dusk! Bring bells to play as you walk to make beautiful music! Procession map
- 5:00-6:15pm: Harp Music by Jini O’Flynn
- 6:30-8:00pm: Magical Strings
- 8:45-9:15pm: The procession will end with an amazing “Lullaby to Dottie Harper Park”…don’t miss this year’s event!
You can sign up for one of the upcoming Lantern Making Workshops at the Moshier Art Center. Lanterns can also be made earlier in the day at Kids Day at the Burien Fire Station. Or make a lantern at home ! Lantern can be made from plastic water bottles, paper bags, tin cans…you can recycle and be creative! Light your lantern with glow sticks or battery operated candles!
