The second round of returns from Tuesday’s Primary Election are in, and incumbent Lucy Krakowiak has extended her lead with over 48% of the vote, and ‘non-candidate’ Bob Edgar still leads Gordon Shaw for City Council Position No. 4.

This is a “top two’ primary, which means the top two vote-getters in each category will move on to the General Election, which will be Nov. 8th.

Of course we’re still trying to sort out what might happen if Bob Edgar, who withdrew from the race June 20th (read our coverage here), actually wins – will he move on to the General Election Nov. 8th? Can he actually “win” a seat on the Burien City Council? Look for a followup story on that topic soon.

Here are the latest returns, comprising 24.25% of ballots counted, as of Wed., Aug. 17 at 3:58 p.m.:

Ballots Cast/Registered Voters: * 5,414 / 22,330 / 24.25%

  • Ed Dacy 1,227 24.31%
  • Lucy Krakowiak 2,439 48.33%

  • Joey Martinez 768 15.50%
  • Bob Edgar 2,210 44.61%

In the King County Council race, it looks like incumbent Joe McDermott is still running away with it, holding a more than 40% lead over challenger Diana Toledo, with 67.41% to her 27.21%.
