According to The Wenatchee World, the body of a Burien man named Kanwal Singh, 18, who was reported missing on the Wenatchee River Saturday, was found Sunday (Aug. 28).

Singh’s body was found just before Noon some 2,000 yards downstream of where he went under.

The World reports that Singh was apparently last seen swimming across a fast-moving part of the river Saturday near the KOA Pine Village campground east of Leavenworth when he went under and didn’t re-surface.

Search and rescue crews looked for Singh into the evening Saturday, but suspended the search due to darkness.

About a dozen members of Singh’s family, including his father, drove over from the Burien area when they learned he was missing.
