We’d like to welcome our latest Advertiser to The B-Town Blog – Scott Hilsen, who’s running for re-election as Commissioner of the Southwest Suburban Sewer District (the election is Nov. 8th).

As we do with all our Advertisers, we’re allowing Scott a forum to share his information:

Working with our fellow commissioners and district staff, we have made great strides forward in upgrading infrastructure, staff training, safety programs, security and technology; Southwest Suburban Sewer District is second to none. The employee union (Local 21S) voted to support our continued leadership and we have been endorsed by the 34th District Democrats. Our sewer rate is LESS THAN HALF the average sewer rate in King County, also LESS THAN A THIRD the City of SEATTLE sewer rate and ?we provide excellent service to our ratepayers. Raised in Normandy Park, I graduated from the University of Washington and received an MBA from Seattle University. I have 20 years of IT Management experience and 10 years of public service as well as active in the Washington Association of Sewer and Water Districts. The employee union (Local 21S) voted to support my continued leadership and I have been endorsed by the 34th District Democrats. We have a sewer district that is focused on the future. Suzy Genzale and I ask for your vote.

Here’s a graph showing how the Southwest Suburban Sewer District’s rates are less than 1/2 the average monthly sewer rate (click image to see larger version):

Under Scott’s leadership, the District has developed a rate reduction program for customers who have incomes below the standard guidelines set forth by King County. Total annual household income from all sources is considered when qualifying for this discount, currently a $10.50 reduction per month.
