Our friends at the Highline Schools Foundation want our Readers to know that they’ll be presenting ‘HANDS UP! For Highline Schools’ as the theme for their 2012 Gold Star Awards events and programs.

This year there will be two distinct events:

  • Gold Star Awards BASH! on Thursday evening, March 22
  • Gold Star Awards Breakfast on Friday morning, April 20

“In response to our community, we are presenting two Gold Star events this year!” reads a note on their website. “A low-ticket price, evening reception called the Gold Star Awards BASH where all Gold Star Winners will be announced, and a Gold Star Awards Fundraising Breakfast that honors those winners and celebrates the good work going on in our schools with the support of the Highline Schools Foundation.”

Each year, Gold Star is a much-anticipated awards celebration and fundraiser to benefit the Foundation, which is the only non-profit organization supporting all schools in the Highline School District. The Foundation directly supports students in our district in areas where state funding cannot, through grants for classroom innovation, funding for arts programming, help for students in need with sports participation fees, a substantial college scholarship program, and more. In eleven years since the Foundation began, it has given over $1,000,000 in funds to programs and students in Highline Public Schools.
