VIDEO: Tree Down on SR-518 Just East of Burien, Blocking Right Lane

BTB Reader Ted  Johnson sent us the following video shot with his iPhone, showing a downed tree over the eastbound lanes of SR-518 Friday afternoon (Feb. 17), just east of Burien:

We’re not sure of the exact cause of the downed tree, or if there were any injuries, but we do know that a serious squall came through B-Town Friday afernoon, so we’re assuming the tree is a victim of the increased winds, which are predicted to gust as high as 39 mph Saturday.

Here’s the 7-day weather forecast:

Tonight: Showers, mainly before 10pm. Low around 41. Breezy, with a south wind 11 to 14 mph increasing to between 20 and 23 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%.

Saturday: Showers. High near 44. Windy, with a south wind between 26 and 30 mph, with gusts as high as 39 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%.

    Did that tree get the blessing of an arborist before it fell?

    That tree was not alone. Noticed going along 156th on north side of airport in the area between 3rd and 2nd runway light standards that a large number of trees had broken and fallen. Looked almost like a small tornado went through the area, or an awfully strong downdraft……..
