The team at Cove to Clover took delivery of a trailer loaded with new running shoes at Burien Town Square on Friday morning.

The cases contained 320 pairs of shoes provided by Brooks Running at a steep discount. The deal with Brooks allowed the Cove to Clover event to purchase shoes worth nearly $30,000 at retail for around $6,000.

The shoes will be distributed for free to local students based on need who are participating in this weekend’s race.

Said race director John Nelson, “Doing this will get these kids participating in something they’ve never done before, and maybe it will change their lives in a positive way. Kudos to Brooks for helping us pull this off!”

The Cove to Clover includes a full weekend’s worth of events, starting with the pub crawl tonight and culminating with the 5k, 10k and family race on Sunday.

Visit the website for full details and don’t forget to set your clocks ahead Saturday night to be sure and make it to the starting line on time Sunday morning!

My kids, who are both students at Seahurst, were drawn in by the possibility of “snazzy new running shoes”, and both signed up for the Seahurst team. This will be their first race ever, so the shoe donation idea is working exactly according to plan! Thanks so much for making this happen.
