REMINDER: The Environmental Science Center is teaming up with Sustainable Burien to present a FREE Workshop called ‘Your Sustainable Yard: Rain Gardens, Native Plants and More,’ to be held this Sunday, March 18 at the Burien Library.

“Don’t miss this opportunity to learn all about creating sustainable and rain-friendly landscaping features!” reads a press release. “This free workshop will focus on environmentally conscious yard care and rain garden design including construction techniques, plant selection, soil texture, cost considerations and maintenance.”

Guest speakers will include Zsofia Pasztor from Stewardship Partners, Lori Beehner from Environmental Construction Inc., Franziska McKay from People for Puget Sound as well as Michael Steinross and students from St. Francis of Assisi.

All participants will receive a FREE native plant.

  1. Don’t miss a walking tour of seven wonderful Burien rain gardens installed last year along 150th St SW. These are all visible from the street and there are interpretive signs along the way.
