On a sunny Saturday afternoon, around 40 generous B-Towners brightened up the coffers of Burien’s Goodie Gumdrops, when they descended, en masse, and spent a minimum of $20 each in the first-ever Cash Mob Burien.

Participants first gathered at Bison Creek Pizza nearby, where the recipient was announced. They then marched over and into the Olde Burien toy store, where they packed the aisles picking out toys and gifts for themselves or others.

“I think this is great for Burien,” said Goodie Gumdrops owner Colleen Gaffney. “It’s such a positive thing – and is exactly what’s needed to keep a small community needs to maintain its independence.”

The B-Town Blog’s Scott Schaefer was on hand (as both a participant and Cash Mobber), along with his two kids, and he captured the following photos:

So sorry we couldn’t make it- but we will do a Cash Mob stragglers on our own sometime the next few days. We are blessed with so many nice local stores- always good to stop by and see what is new!

I applaude those who were part of the “cash mob.” It is important to help out our neighborhood stores. I do hope that we will also support other businesses that Burien has, such as your neighbor the plumber, contractor, or electrician.

These companies may not have a “store front” office (only a back bedroom as their office) but could still use your support.
