WABI kicked off their slate of public events for the summer with a free Bicycles 101 seminar at Bicycles West on Wednesday night.

WABI — short for Walk/Bike — is the new local events and advocacy group seeking to create healthy, fun activities around town that involve walking and bicycling.

Last night’s seminar focused on the fundamentals of bicycling safety, what you need to get started in bicycling and provided basic information about bicycle maintenance.

The event served as a lead-in to help folks get ready for Burien Bike Day 2012 coming up on May 18.

Burien Bike Day will include several bicycle-related activities, including Commuter Support Stations and a family-friendly Bike SaFaRi (Safe Family Ride).

Other events and Bike SaFaRis are being planned.

You can learn more about WABI and upcoming events through their website at www.wabiburien.org.
