On Saturday (May 19th), the Highline Medical Center Foundation hosted its 4th annual ‘Hats On for Highline’ fundraiser at Emerald Downs race track, and raised over $25,000.

‘Hats on for Highline’ was launched in 2009 to raise awareness of the Highline Medical Center Foundation’s mission to support healthcare in our community. Almost 200 attendees to this year’s event enjoyed live horse racing, a silent auction, scrumptious buffet, and a festive hat contest.

“With the support of our sponsors and people in our community, the Foundation raised over $25,000 to support our strategic initiatives to improve health and wellness at Highline Medical Center including state of the art cardiovascular and cancer care,” reads a statement.

This year’s presenting sponsor for the event was Merchant Credit Association (MCA).

The B-Town Blog’s Scott Schaefer served as MC/Host for the second consecutive year, all the while wearing many silly hats.

“My favorite moment of the day was interviewing the wearers of the creative hats,” Schaefer said. “Especially the little kids who were perhaps a bit nervous at first, but in the end managed to successfully show off their amazing hats with a smile.”

Some of the winning hat wearers were:

  • “Most Creative”: Marite Butners,  Mary Suhm and Marlene LeMire
  • “Most Vintage”: Kendra Clark
