UPDATE 3 p.m. 5/30/12: According to Catherine Carbone Rogers, Highline School District Director, Communication and Community Relations, the lockdown at Hilltop Elementary School was lifted at Noon.
PREVIOUSLY: Several Readers have called or emailed about this – there was a major police turnout Wednesday morning (May 30) in the neighborhood around 24th Ave South and South 128th, near Hilltop Elementary School (see map below).
The school was apparently put in lockdown mode as a precaution, as police pursued a burglary suspect in a house nearby.
“We arrived and both suspects took off running,” said Sgt. Cindi West of the King County Sheriff’s Office. “We caught one and one is still hiding in the neighborhood!”
As this story develops we’ll update this post, so stay tuned.
