“Imagine having chickens in your own backyard!”
That’s what Burien Parks asks in a promotion about an upcoming class called “Keeping Backyard Chickens,” which will be held Tuesday, June 26 at the Community Center.
Unique pets, abundant eggs, rich compost, sustainable living – more people every day are discovering the many joys of chicken keeping.
“Join us for this fun, informative class,” reads an announcement. “Learn whether chickens are right for you, and how to get started – even if you have a small yard. Find out about care, feeding, and housing needs. See displays. Hear from an experienced chicken keeper. Walk away with helpful resources.”

Chickens I can live with .. ROOSTERS who crow at 4 o’clock in the morning I cannot.
My sister keeps chickens on her farm in north bend. If you calculate out all the time she spends caring for them plus the added expense of chicken feed etc a farm fresh egg costs about double what you can buy ( close to farm fresh eggs) for at PCC market. Frankly I can’t tell the difference.
Is the smell, the time, the expense and the work worth it?
Maybe I guess if you love chickens and want them as pets but NO roosters please.
