Burien Dog Hoarder Pleads ‘Guilty’ to Two Counts of Animal Cruelty Tuesday

Margaret Ann Hamilton, a dog show judge and breeder, plead ‘Guilty’ Tuesday (June 5) in King County Superior Court to two counts of second-degree animal cruelty.

King County Prosecutors charged Hamilton with animal cruelty after she hoarded around 100 dogs in poor conditions at homes in Burien and Issaquah in October 2011 (read our previous coverage here [1]).

Chihuahuas, Pomeranians, and Chin dogs were found in Hamilton’s residence on Oct. 8, 2011, all in relatively poor health and kept in extremely dirty crates. Fourteen of the dogs were in good enough condition to be saved, and were taken immediately to a veterinarian’s office.

Following a tip, King County Sheriff’s Office animal control officers raided Hamilton’s residences and rescued the dogs, which had been living in dirty animal carriers covered in feces and hair.

Hamilton will apparently not serve any jail time.

She turned over all but three of her dogs, which are being adopted out.
