Happy Father’s Day – Strawberry Festival, Carnival, Classic Cars & Bike Ride

Happy Father’s Day to all our fellow Fathers out there, and since most of them are fellows, what better way to celebrate than coming to the final day of Burien’s Wild Strawberry Festival, where Dads of all types can drool over classic cars, take their kids on carnival rides or go for a bike ride?

If Dad’s a Rocker, he may also enjoy seeing the local band Manooghi Hi [1] at 2:30 p.m. – they play a unique mixture of East Indian and Grunge Rock that is awesome. Our sister site SoKing Internet Radio [2] plays them, and we’ve grown into huge fans.

Here’s what else is happening today:

10 a.m. – 4 p.m.: SW 152nd is closed between 4th Ave SW and 8th Ave SW, and there’s a boatload of classic cars just waiting to be ogled!)

From Noon to 2 p.m. today, taste savory chili concocted by competitors in the Annual Chili Cook-Off. The chili earning first place wins $200 plus a traveling trophy. Second place will receive $100 and third place $50.

WILD STRAWBERRY FESTIVAL (10 a.m. – 4 p.m.):

Burien Parks and Recreation Demo Tent Saturday and Sunday

2 p.m.: Burien Bike SaFaRi: meet at Town Square Park (top of the grassy knoll), then bike on the Chelsea – Hazel Valley Loop. The ride will start from Town Square Park, head over to 4th Ave. SW via SW 150th St. and then jog over to 6th Ave SW on its way up north (because the grade of the hill is gentler).
