Debra George of CARES says the new animal shelter facility on SW 151st in Olde Burien passed its health inspection Monday and will open for business Tuesday (July 17).

“We passed, we have a couple of conditions to add, which are no big deal, a couple of rubber mats and a few areas that need a bit of touch up paint – other than that, we are opening tomorrow,” she said Monday afternoon.

George said the non-profit agency will have a ribbon cutting next Tuesday (July 24).

The Community Animal Resource Education Society or “CARES” had failed a health inspection last month at which time it was told it had to remove the few animals that were housed in the facility (read our previous coverage here).

Woohoo! They accomplished in six months what should have been done before they ever occupied the space. Congratulations!

    Great news!

  3. Sherrie says:

Sorry but I am skeptical. I wish them well, especially for the animals sake, and I still feel like all of the citizens of Burien need to keep an eye on them.

  4. Rob says:

Great news.. and good luck to all.

  5. Wulfie says:

They may have passed and are going to re-open but they probably are not going to do a darn thing. CareLESS is a better name for them!

  6. Ed Dacy says:

I am glad they passed. I hope all goes well and the worse is behind them

  7. Joe Wills says:

So they passed, Now that they are to re-open it still doesnt change the facts that no one has a clue what they are doing!

  8. scared says:

This is horrible. They need to be shut down for good. I’m not worried though, the will mess something else up soon enough.

  9. Cuppa Joe says:

I suspect that they passed by the skin of their teeth and the place, like their whole operation, is held together with chewing gum and a prayer.
