The City of Burien will be holding a Blood Drive at City Hall from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. on Thursday, July 26.

Volunteers are needed to donate blood at this event.

“Summertime can be fun when there’s sunshine and lots of free time,” reads an announcement. “However, at the Puget Sound Blood Center we are continuously trying to service the needs of our patients in Western Washington. We face an enormous challenge during the summer months to meet the constant demand for a consistent blood supply.”

Organizers say that one of these challenges is “the 20 percent drop in donations – school-based community blood drives that generate lots of donors. Then, imagine an additional 20 percent increase in trauma cases during the summer…you can begin to understand the magnitude of the challenge.”

“Bring a Friend with you. Maybe this will be their first time donating blood.”

Here are the details:

WHAT: City of Burien Blood Drive

WHEN: Thursday, July 26, 10:00 am to 4:00 pm (closed 12-1)

WHERE: Burien City Hall Multipurpose Room, 1st Floor, 400 SW 152nd Street.

RSVP: Please sign up with Kathy Wetherbee at (206) 439-3158 or email [email protected].

Phlebotomist. A two dollar word that you will have the opportunity to learn and use by joining me in giving blood on the 26th. Come on down, spend 20 minutes on a gurney, and eat some yummy cookies. I owe ’em a pint for what I sucked up in April. 10 AM. Be there!
