The City of Burien announced on its website Thursday (July 19) that paving work on the sidewalks of SW 132nd Street will begin Monday, July 23.

West Coast Construction has been contracted to do the work, and will be pouring concrete sidewalks the entire week – from July 23 – 27.

Contractors say they are contacting all immediate residents about limited access to their respective driveways.

“For those next few days, residents are being asked to park their vehicles on the other side of the street should residents require immediate access,” reads an announcement.

The concrete sidewalk will need to cure for at least 48 hours before it can be driven over.

Residents should be able to have complete access in the next 72 hours after the sidewalk has been poured.

Project Improvements include the following:

  • Sidewalks, Curb and Gutter on both sides
  • New Concrete Driveways and ADA Ramps
  • New Asphalt Pavement Overlay
  • Storm Drainage Improvements

The project improves upon non-motorized (including ADA) mobility leading to the Hazel Valley Elementary and the downtown area by providing safe east-west accessibility.
