Help this 7-Year Old Burien Girl in her Fight Against Rare Form of Cancer
Sophia Thompson is a 7-year old Burien girl who has been diagnosed with a rare form of soft tissue cancer called “rhabdymosarcoma” behind her right eye.
“There are only 350 cases of this type of cancer diagnosed each year,” said Andrea Reay, who’s helping to organize a fundraiser. “The chemo is making her feel awful and last week she had to get a feeding tube as she is losing weight. She is normally a very happy, spunky little girl, and this battle is very hard for her.”
Reay adds that Sophie is her parents’ only child, and that they love her dearly.
But they also need $25,000 to help Sophia’s battle, and that’s why Reay has set up a fundraiser website at www.gofundme.com/Sophia. As of Monday, July 23 they have raised $400 – to help out, click this link and donate online.
“We are starting this site in hope of helping her family with all the additional expenses they are accruing. With no family in the area, one parent needs to be with her at all times, and one income is not enough to get through the coming months. We hope that this site will give the family the ability to focus on Sophia without worrying about their finances. Please keep Sophia in your thoughts and prayers.”
