The King County Sheriff’s Office is reporting that a 26-year old Kent man was shot in the neck after an altercation with another man in a convenience store parking lot in Burien Tuesday night.

The incident occurred at Andy’s Handy Mart, located on SW 160th Street near First Ave South (map below) around 11:30 p.m..

If you live across the street, then you may be one of the people who cross SW 160th ST illegally to the mart. It is so dangerous to jay-walk. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve witnessed tenants from that apartment complex running or walking across the street in heavy traffic and sometimes with kids.

Has anyone else been hearing what sounds like a gunshot almost every night in this area of Burien? Since the 4th of July my roommate and I have been (mostly) willing to attribute the nightly bang to leftover fireworks, but since a couple of them have later turned out to be actual shootings we are beginning to wonder.
