Farmers Market Vendor Spotlight: Burien’s Own 18th Ave Pasta Company
[EDITOR’S NOTE: As we try to do every week when we’re at the Burien Farmers Market – since 2008 – we do a Spotlight on a Vendor.]
Story & Photos by Scott Schaefer
At today’s Burien Farmers Market, one Vendor is truly, really local – 18th Ave Pasta Company – which makes its artisan pasta in a kitchen located on (you guessed it…) 18th Ave SW right here in B-Town.
Owned and operated by residents Jack and Angela Armstrong, 18th Ave Pasta is a family-run business that has “nests” of their great-tasting product, priced at just $1 per nest (can you tell that we love the term “nest”?), with a free nest if you buy seven.
“Each batch is a work of art with its own flavors and texture,” reads a note on their website. “We are a local company and dedicated to our community. This enables us to provide customers with the freshest of pasta. Unlike grocery stores, our pasta is made within 24 hours of delivery, leaving a minimal carbon footprint, and pasta of the utmost quality. We are proud to provide a variety of shapes and flavors of pasta to satisfy the culinary needs of our customers.”
And they’ve got lots of great (and unique) flavors too:
- Spinach Garlic
- Cabernet Sauvignon
- Tomato Basil
- Lemon Oregano
- Pumpkin Spice
- Chipotle Adobo
- Whole Wheat
- Rosemary Onion
- Cajun Black Spice
- Lemon Pepper
- Semolina Plain
- Summer mix (beet, spinach, plain, and tomato)
18th Avenue Pasta Company is located right here in Burien, and they can be found at the Burien Farmers Market every Thursday, the Des Moines Farmers Market on Saturdays, as well as the Renton and Federal Way markets.
Be sure to tell them you read about them on The B-Town Blog!
