REMINDER: Burien’s FREE ‘Music in the Park’ series starts at 6:30 p.m. with free live music from acclaimed jazz band Pearl Django tonight – Thursday, Aug. 2 – at Lake Burien School Park, located at SW 148th Street and 16th Ave SW.

Most Jazz fans and Non-Jazz fans are at least vaguely familiar with the distinctive guitar and “gypsy” Jazz sounds of Django Rheinhardt and Stephane Grappelli. The somewhat twangy and deeply-resonant sound instantly conjures images of Paris nights and smokey “Boites de Nuit” of a vintage era. The sound is undeniably romantic.

While drawing from that inspiration, local quintet Pearl Django has developed a repertoire that is still strongly influenced by Django Rheindart, but also includes many original compositions.

This local group is now entering its 17th year of performing and has risen from their Tacoma roots to boast performance highlights in numerous jazz festivals nationwide and in France. Now is your chance to be romanced by their singular sound in your own backyard.

We’re proud again to be a Sponsor, and encourage all residents to come out and enjoy great FREE music, courtesy Burien Parks.

I love these guys (and only found out about them thru SKiR so thanks and good on you for that). But I can’t go to this tonight —wondering if there’s any way you could broadcast it live via SKiR?
