WEATHER: ‘Excessive Heat Watch’ Warning Issued for Thursday-Friday
The National Weather Service on Tuesday afternoon (Aug. 14) issued an ‘Excessive Heat Watch‘ alert for this Thursday (Aug. 16) and Friday (Aug. 17), warning residents that a “prolonged period of hot temperatures is expected.”
“The combination of hot temperatures and high humidity will combine to create a dangerous situation in which heat illnesses are possible,” the warning said.
This Friday could be the hottest day of the year, with a high of 95 predicted, so be sure to drink plenty of fluids.
If the city decides to turn on any sprinklers or open a cooling area, we’ll let you know!

* TEMPERATURE…HIGH TEMPERATURES ARE FORECAST TO REACH THE LOW TO MID 90S BOTH DAYS IN THE SEATTLE AREA…WITH MID TO UPPER 90S POSSIBLE IN SOUTHERN AREAS. NORTHERN AREAS WILL HAVE HIGHS IN THE UPPER 80S TO LOWER 90S.
* IMPACTS…THURSDAY AND FRIDAY ARE LIKELY TO BE AMONG THE HOTTEST DAYS OF THE YEAR.
