Farmers Market Vendor Spotlight: ‘G & T’s Hawaiian Shave Ice’ Will Cool You Off
[EDITOR’S NOTE: As we try to do every week when we’re at the Burien Farmers Market – since 2008 – we do a Spotlight on a Vendor.]
This week’s Discover Burien Farmers Market Vendor of the week is a very cool, family-run business that does great on hot days like today – G & T’s Hawaiian Shave Ice!

We spoke with the ‘G’ in G & T – Greg Lale (the ‘T’ is his son Tyson) – and he told us that this is his first year doing farmers markets.
In addition to being at the Burien one every Thursday, he also sells at the Auburn and Kent markets.
What inspired you to get into the Shave Ice business?
“My business mentor did it and his success inspired me,” he told us as he whipped up a Raspberry/Blackberry Shave Ice for us (BTW, it was GREAT – these things really hit the spot when the temps get up this high).
Who are your best customers?
“I love kids,” he said. “They make up 80 per cent of my business. Plus, they love my cool, refreshing, colorful product!”
How has business been on this, a blisteringly hot, 90+ degree day?
“Today by far has been my busiest day!” Greg said with a smile. “I just hope I have enough ice to last the rest of the day…”
If you want some great Shave Ice, made with all natural flavors (“from Walla Walla” Greg said), you’d best get down to the Burien Farmers Market ASAP!
And if you can’t get down here today, don’t worry – he’ll be here next week.
