The next Brat Trot Hash is happening this Sunday, Aug. 26, starting at 11 a.m. at the Masonic Hall Lawn at the corner of SW 152nd and 10th Ave SW in Olde Burien.

“It’s going to be a perfect weekend – so how about a nice walk to start off your Sunday?” reads a note on their Facebook Page.

A ‘Hash’ is a non-competitive running, social and drinking event. Run, walk, jog or skip the race course, then re-group afterwards with great food and drink specials at the Tin Room.

Upcoming hashes are scheduled for Sept. 9 and Sept. 23.

The third annual Burien Brat Trot fundraiser is set for Sunday, Oct. 7 (we’re proud to be the Media Sponsor for the 3rd consecutive year), and registration is now open – register for the run online now at www.burienbrattrot.com.

This homegrown fundraiser 5K and 1.2-mile family race is one of our community’s favorite events. All day long on Oct. 7, 2012 you can participate or come enjoy the fun – the race is followed by a “Bavarianfest” street party complete with beer gardens, great food, music, a kidstage, and zany fun.

This race benefits two important local organizations:

THE COURSE
The 5K race begins at the corner of 10th Ave SW and SW 152nd Street in Olde Burien, circles Lake Burien and finishes to cheering crowds in front of The Tin Room! View the official course map here. The one mile race starts at Lake Burien Park and also finishes in the heart of the festivities.

In addition to the big run on Oct. 7, there are other events this year worth participating in:

SPOT THE SAUSAGE Scavenger Hunt!: Sept. 20th – Oct. 4th
Over 20 “sausages” (toy hot dogs!) will be placed in businesses all up and down SW 152nd street—it’s your job to find them and Facebook or email a photo of YOU near them! Every “find” gets you an extra entry into our drawing two round trip tickets anywhere Alaska Airlines flies!

All you need to do is:

  1. “LIKE” them on Facebook.
  2. Create an account – this will enter you in the drawing to win two round trip tickets anywhere Alaska Airlines flies AND sign you up to participate in “Spot the Sausage.”
  3. Submit your evidence from the locations you visited via your computer or mobile phone.

What do you need to play? Comfortable walking shoes are a must! Other than that, a camera or cell phone with a camera to take a picture showing us your evidence and an active imagination are all you’ll need to play the game and have fun!

You will receive more complete directions after you sign up.

To enter and get all of the details, go the Brat Trot Facebook page at www.facebook.com/burienbrattrot.
