With Supplies Low, Volunteers Needed for Blood Drive Monday at St. Francis

Is it summer yet? Is summer over already? In the Northwest, those questions are often asked on the same day.

But while weather may change minute to minute, some things are very predictable every summer – like the demand for blood.

Regardless of temperature, sunshine, cloud cover or rain, if it’s summer the demand for blood rises. Why?

Because vacations, outdoor activities and closed schools all add up to fewer available donors. And that results in a lower blood supply.

Patients’ needs, however, remain constant. So, ignore the weather — good or bad — for an hour and brighten the summer for patients.

“Hannah (born May 18, 2012) has received 49 blood transfusions to date and because of people that took the time to donate blood my daughter is still with us today. Please help to make a difference in people’s lives. Each blood donation saves 3 lives!”
