BTB Contributor Gregory Rehmke got out and captured the following great images of the rare “Blue Moon” rising over Lake Burien Friday night (Aug. 31).
A blue moon doesn’t necessarily mean the orb changes color – it’s the rare occurrence when two full moons happen within the same calendar month (the first full moon in August was on the 1st), and is the name for the second full moon.
The next blue moon won’t be seen until 2015.
