Brat Trot Banners Go Up, Festooning Olde Burien in Bavarian Colors
Several blue and white checked flags promoting the upcoming Oct. 7 Burien Brat Trot were installed on SW 152nd street lampposts over the weekend, festooning Olde Burien in traditional Bavarian Oktoberfest colors.
The Burien Brat Trot 5k and 1 mile “seize the sausage” family race has become one of our community’s greatest events (we’re proud to be an ongoing, original Sponsor). and benefits two important local organizations — The Highline Schools Foundation, which gathers community resources to support the 18,000 students in Highline Public Schools, and Safe Kids King County South, which supports injury prevention through access and education.
BTB Founder/Publisher Scott Schaefer got out and took some pics just before sunset Monday night (Sept. 10) – click images to see larger versions/slideshow:
“All day long on October 7, 2012, enjoy an Oktoberfest style party complete with beer, great food, music, zany fun centered around the Burien Brat Trot 5K™ or 1 mile race!” reads an announcement.

The 5K race begins at the corner of 10th Ave SW and SW 152nd Street in Olde Burien, circles Lake Burien and finishes to cheering crowds in front of The Tin Room! View the official course map here. The one mile race starts at Lake Burien Park and also finishes in the heart of the festivities.
