Several blue and white checked flags promoting the upcoming Oct. 7 Burien Brat Trot were installed on SW 152nd street lampposts over the weekend, festooning Olde Burien in traditional Bavarian Oktoberfest colors.

The Burien Brat Trot 5k and 1 mile “seize the sausage” family race has become one of our community’s greatest events (we’re proud to be an ongoing, original Sponsor). and benefits two important local organizations — The Highline Schools Foundation, which gathers community resources to support the 18,000 students in Highline Public Schools, and Safe Kids King County South, which supports injury prevention through access and education.

BTB Founder/Publisher Scott Schaefer got out and took some pics just before sunset Monday night (Sept. 10) – click images to see larger versions/slideshow:

“All day long on October 7, 2012, enjoy an Oktoberfest style party complete with beer, great food, music, zany fun centered around the Burien Brat Trot 5K™ or 1 mile race!” reads an announcement.

Hey B-Town! Have some fun with family and friends in the “Spot the Sausage” Scavenger Hunt. Over 20 “sausages” (toy hot dogs!) will be placed in businesses all up and down SW 152nd street — it’s your job to find them and Facebook or email a photo of YOU near them! Every “find” gets you an extra entry into our drawing two round trip tickets anywhere Alaska Airlines flies! To enter and get all of the details, go to the Brat Trot Facebook page. Have fun!
